Kobo readers recently updated their software, which broke viewing of Throng: Tripping the Light Synthetic. It is still readable but may be confusing to follow, especially on greyscale devices. We have contacted the manufacturer to correct the issue.

Kobo software version 4.44.23552 released on 11/13/25 refuses to display certain characters (or "glyphs") from the GNU FreeFont family, which is embedded in the TTLS ePub file. These characters serve as brackets to seperate one character's "hidden" speech from another.

As of Jan 2026, no fix has been released. A work-around (embedding SVG versions of the glyphs) identified a separate bug in LibreOffice, bug 170306:DOCX import adds unwanted space around images.

We are working on resolving these issues ASAP.
